Flushing Creek Mixed Use Development

The site lies in the new Flushing West District and will be developed as a luxury mixed use project comprising of a 5-star, 19 story hotel tower, two luxury 19 story residential apartment buildings and a high end retail podium. The hotel and residential component will be separate structured, bisected by a road but connected at their podiums by a pedestrian bridge. The site occupies the very center of the district and celebrates this location by creating a new plaza that is designed integrate the building’s activities into the pedestrian life of Flushing while enhancing the upland connection experience between the newly developed waterfront promenade and Flushing’s Main street.

The hotel will cater to out of town guests and the community at large with two full service restaurants, an executive club, a health club/spa, and a conference center with a 700 seat banquet hall available for private functions.

The buildings are to be experienced by their users not only directly on site, but also as a visible as a landmark within the urban scale from far away. The buildings have to be compelling in multi-dimensional scales and perspectives from close up and from across the river. PEI chose to give each building a unique character in contrast to neighboring buildings which are similar rectangular boxes with flat rooftops.
