Originally founded in 1992 as Pei Partnership Architects, the firm was later renamed and reorganized to better reflect its extensive expertise and reaffirm its commitment to creating enduring, high-quality architecture.

PEI is a full-service practice engaging in architectural design, master planning, interior design and historic preservation for projects of all scales. Its diverse portfolio includes commercial office buildings and residential towers, healthcare facilities and hotels, museums and theaters, corporate headquarters, and expansive urban master plans, including waterfront parks. In 2024, the firm recognized the contribution of several key designers, project managers, and technical specialists, notably including the promotion of Toh Tsun Lim—who has a 25-year tenure with the firm and is known for his exceptional leadership in managing the design and construction of major projects—to Partner.
